Women's Golf Places Eighth At C-USA Championships

April 16, 2008

EL PASO, Texas - The UAB women's golf team concluded the 2008 Texas Roadhouse Conference USA Women's Golf Championships Wednesday in eighth place with a three-round total of 961. Freshman Jaime Brabb led the Blazers and tied for seventh overall with score of 230 at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club.

"We started out well at the tournament," said UAB head coach Kim Wilcox. "We've had a tough couple of days in rounds two and three. We had some bright spots during the tournament, but we also had times where we lost focus a little bit and didn't play as well as we are capable of."

Tulsa won the league tournament by shooting rounds of 304-297-303 to garner a team total of 904. East Carolina came in second with a score of 922 and SMU rounded out the top three at 932.

Brabb carded rounds of 72-76-82 to tie for seventh in the individual standings with a 230. Sophomore Carolyn Cochran tied for 23rd place with a 54-hole score of 240, while junior Christina Wentworth tied for 34th at 248.

Freshman Lindsay Taylor tied for the 39th spot at 252 and junior Alyson Mitchell finished in a tie for 42nd place with a score of 257.

Tulsa's Woeri Shin finished first in the individual standings by shooting a 220 over the three-day tournament.
