AS A SOPHOMORE (2007)
Appeared in 22 games, the most relief appearances on the staff ... recorded one win on the year ... held an ERA of 4.20 ... struck out 24 batters and walked 23 ... held opponents to a .241 batting average ... was selected to play in the Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game last summer while playing with the Mineral Wells Steam with whom he finished the season with a 4.00 ERA after holding hitters to a .254 average ... gave the Blazers 2.2 innings of scoreless relief at Tulane May 6, striking out one and allowing just one hit ... at Houston on April 8, he posted 4.1 innings with four strikeouts and just one hit allowed ... had a brilliant outing against Troy on March 20, shutting down the Trojans for 1.1 innings, striking out one to earn the save ... closed out UAB's win at Kennesaw State on March 16 by throwing 2.0 innings and allowing just one earned run ... threw three scoreless innings in relief against Furman March 11 ... struck out two batters and allowed just one earned run in 2.1 innings of work against Central Michigan on Feb. 18 ... shut down Central Michigan on opening day, throwing 1.2 innings in which he allowed no earned runs.

Played locally for the late Sammy Dunn at Vestavia Hills HS ... earned three letters and started for three years ... named All-State in 2004 and All-Area in 2003 and 2004 ... awarded the Rising Rebel Award as a sophomore and the Outstanding Hitter Award as a senior ... lettered two years in football ... hit .470 with four home runs and was 1-0 with a save and a 0.99 ERA his senior year at VHHS ... batted .420 and was 11-3 with a save and a 1.40 ERA for his entire prep career.
