Norm Reilly, who has more than 25 years experience in the university media relations field, joined the UAB staff in April of 2002 as Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations. He was named Associate AD for Media Relations in August of 2005. Prior to coming to UAB, Reilly spent a year as Director of Communications & Public Relations at the National Senior Games Association (Senior Olympics) in Baton Rouge, La. Reilly served five years as Assistant AD for Media Relations at East Carolina from 1995-2001. Reilly served for 15 years in the Sports Information office at the University of Georgia before his stint at ECU. During his long tenure in Athens, Ga., Reilly was Associate SID from 1987-95. He had served in the position of Assistant SID at UGA from 1982-87 and as a graduate assistant with the Bulldogs from 1980-82. Outside college athletics, Reilly has also been involved with four Olympic Games working for the host television broadcaster. He has worked at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games in 2002, the 2004 Athens Summer Games and the 2006 Torino Winter Games. Reilly graduated from the University of Georgia in 1980 with an ABJ degree from the Henry W. Grady School of Journalism. He also attended graduate school at Georgia in public relations. Reilly is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Reilly was named a 2006 recipient of the Scoop Hudgins Outstanding SID Award by the All-America Football Foundation. In July of 2007, Reilly was honored at the annual CoSIDA Workshop in San Diego as he received the organization's 25-Year Award. PERSONAL: He is married to the former Leslie Williams of Baton Rouge, La., who was an Assistant SID herself at Ole Miss and Auburn. They have two sons, Trey (17) and Graham (14). |
